Put your hand up if you’ve ever prayed constantly about something, without getting an answer. When you think about it, is it that God didn’t answer, or is it that His answer was ‘wait’ or ‘no’? I once heard someone make a request of her co-worker. When the co-worker’s response to the request wasn’t forthcoming, she was told, ‘no is an answer too’, by the one making the request. Too often though, it seems as if God isn’t hearing our prayers because we either refuse to take ‘no’ for an answer, or we want Him to answer in our time.
Friend, God isn’t some genie in a bottle, waiting for you to summon Him so He can grant your latest desire. He has promised us all things, but His promise is conditional. Are you doing what His word says in order for Him to give you the desires of your heart?
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him.
