I pray about everything. I pray about what most of us consider major issues, like finding a job or someplace to live, but I also pray about things which might seem trivial, like asking God to direct me to the right store to make a purchase. In my mind, if I am already committing all I do to Him, it makes sense to constantly seek His counsel. The point is that prayer is the most powerful tool I have at my disposal, and I’m not afraid to use it.
Sometimes I focus on things in the deep recesses of my heart. In these moments, I’m not necessarily ‘actively praying’, but just thinking about outcomes I would desire in particular situations. And this isn’t usually deep thinking, but more like fleeting thoughts. I am always shocked by the countless occasions when I have not been praying in the conventional sense, but more wishing, and my desires are granted to me. God heard the needs of my heart, even though they were not at the usual frequency.
What does your heart crave? When you blow your heart’s ‘dog whistle’, are you assured that God will hear it?
1 John 5:14
And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us.
